Overview

By taking part in UNICEF Canada’s Global Classroom programme, you will journey with your students through a new learning process where young people are not merely provided with new and challenging information but encouraged to respond and take action. Each of the classroom resources on the following pages include ways you and your students can see that global issues are much more than just a classroom subject…they’re about real life!

Bring the world into your Global Classroom with UNICEF Canada's education resources

Written by Canadian educators for practical use in classrooms and in other educational settings, UNICEF Canada’s education resources are renowned for their quality and positive, age-appropriate approach to global issues and development. Our materials are developed to encourage ‘critical literacies’ in interdependence, diversity, children’s rights, global citizenship, and peace and conflict resolution. Produced in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and other partners, UNICEF Canada’s education resources are copyright-free for non-saleable, educational use.

For a great resource to use in your classroom, the Public Health Agency of Canada created a toolkit to celebrate National Child Day in November 2009. Check it out at:
